Early Life

The writer, director Kiranraj K was born in a little village in Kasaragod district of Kerala, India to Godavari and Acchuth K. He took on colossal responsibilities very early on in life due to family circumstances. With a determined purpose of etching his path in the cinema world Kiranraj did a specialization in Film Direction from Star Creators Film Institute in Bangalore. He thus began his career in 2011 and has ever since been passionately fulfilling his cinematic dreams.

Career

2010

Kiranraj had developed a deep care for his craft ever since his childhood. He directed many plays at school, took part in street plays before he seriously ventured into the world of cinema. He took a course in acting and direction from Star creators film institute under the guidance of Jayatheertha BV. Upon the completion of the course, he worked as a junior artist in numerous films and daily soaps in Kannada. When the opportunities that came his way got monotonous and did not foster his career growth, Kiranraj decided to sculpt his own course.

2012-2014

In the following months Kiranraj helmed his next project Kabbina Halu. This silent short film was inspired from a real life incident. Shot in a handy cam, the film won South Indian level short film competition organised by Vibha trust for its wonderful portrayal of raw and innocent human emotions. Around the same time, Kiranraj was entrusted with a documentary film about the dying history and art of Yakshagana Puppets. This project is the first ever documentary film on the subject and was produced by the renowned Indian puppeteer K. V. Ramesh.

2016-2019

Kiranraj eventually spelled out a position in Rakshit Shetty’s team of writers titled ‘Seven Odds’ and assumed the role of associate director in the blockbuster hit Kirik Party. The film’s success added a monumental growth to his career. Thereon, Kiranraj conceived his directorial debut 777 Charlie under the grand banner of Paramvah Studios. This is his first wholly envisioned feature length film. Today, 777 Charlie is a largely anticipated movie awaiting its PAN India release. Whilst working for 777 Charlie Kiranraj also directed a film for the anthology Katha Sangama.

2011

His first official project, Kavala (darkness) pulled in herculean efforts to reach the final output. Kiranraj moulded the story based on the theme of upholding morality and justice in the society. This social awareness drama received wide acclaim and rave reviews from critics and audience alike. It was played across many schools, colleges and fests in the region and around. The film’s success presented him with a renewed identity and procured an avenue to screen the film at Kannada Sangha in Delhi.

2015-2016

His sincere determination and resolve fetched him the opportunity of assistant director in director Imran Sardariya’s Kannada film Endendigu. Kiranraj’s work in this film exemplified his capability in deftly handling the diverse tasks that filmmaking demanded. This reputation conferred him, his next position as associate director in Rishabh Shetty directorial, Rakshit Shetty and Haripriya starrer Ricky.
